About Us
What does The Man from Snowy River Tourist Association Do?
The Man from Snowy River Tourist Association (MFSR TA) was formed to support, promote and encourage tourism in the Upper Murray.
- In 2011 MFSR TA had 27 members. In 2019 our membership had grown to 74. This growth is an indicator of the increasing importance of tourism to our community. Our 2020 committee has 13 members working together to achieve our aims.
- In 2018 the MFSR TA joined in a partnership with Marketing Upper Murray (Upper Murray Inc) and Towong Shire. We all look forward to this partnership helping to foster tourism in the Upper Murray.
- MFSR TA committee members are represented on other community committees. For example The Great River Road Reference Group, Upper Murray Inc., Upper Murray Business Inc., Corryong Neighbourhood Centre.
- MFSR TA regularly liaises with Towong Shire on tourism related matters. A representative of Towong Shire attends our monthly committee meetings to enable this dialogue to occur.
- Our partnership with the Marketing Upper Murray program include committee representation, production of the Upper Murray Business and Tourism Guide and production of an A3 Upper Murray Map. These publications are available from Corryong Visitor Information Centre and are distributed widely across north-east Victoria, southern New South Wales and Australia.
- Many MFSR TA committee members volunteer at the Corryong Visitor Information Centre (VIC). Along with other community volunteers we endeavour to keep the doors of Corryong VIC open from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week. (VIC is closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.)
- MFSR TA uses funds to produce and purchase quality souvenirs and merchandise for the Corryong Visitor Information Centre. The profits from the sales at Corryong VIC are used to fund our various projects.
- MFSR TA has developed and published a detailed 4WD map "The Beautiful Upper Murray". This involved extensive research and checking and is an invaluable aid in safely exploring the local area.
